You can scan a document with your phone camera, upload a PDF or image, or paste text directly. Legally extracts the clauses automatically.
Supported inputs
Photographs taken in the app, PDF files, JPG and PNG images, and pasted plain text all work. Multi-page documents are handled as a single document. Scans of printed pages are read with optical character recognition, so a photo of a paper contract works as well as a digital file.
Clause extraction
Rather than treating a document as one block of text, Legally splits it into individual clauses and identifies the document type — employment contract, lease, service agreement, loan agreement and so on. The document type determines which clauses matter most and which are unusual enough to flag.
Scan quality
Good lighting and a flat page produce the most reliable extraction. If a page is cut off or too blurry to read, Legally tells you which page failed rather than silently analysing an incomplete document.
